Cher Colonel GOUPIL,

Je vous envoie sous pli séparé, quelques photos prises lors de l'inauguration d'un pont à la mémoire de votre Fils, le Capitaine Robert GOUPIL, tué au combat alors qu'il se battait en Corée avec le Bataillon Français rattaché à la 2ème Division d'Infanterie Américaine.

 

Le pont a été construit par la Compagnie B du 2ème Bataillon du Génie de la Division. La dédicace de ce pont à la mémoire du Capitaine GOUPIL est un petit témoignage de la grande estime qu'ont leurs frères d'armes américains pour le capitaine GOUPIL et le Bataillon Français.

 

Le Capitaine GOUPIL est mort courageusement dans le combat des NATIONS-UNIES pour préserver l'idéal qui lie partout dans le monde les peuples épris de Liberté.

 

Je vous adresse ma plus profonde sympathie pour la perte immense que vous avez subie.

Korean Veterans of the French Navy are not numerous and have not specific Vet Association. The Veterans of the "La Grandière" joined the A.N.A.F.F. ONU - R.C. (The French Korean War Veterans National Association). In this way, they are also the French "matelots" of the :
